Daylight is one of the first ingredients of a healthy and regenerative space. In a Mediterranean climate, sunlight and shade coexist with unusual intensity. Good design uses available light without creating excessive glare or overheating.

European standard EN 17037 provides criteria for daylight provision, views out, exposure to sunlight and protection from glare. Measurement does not replace design judgement. It makes decisions more precise and comparable.

Passive strategies for the Mediterranean climate

Quality depends on more than quantity. Shadows, variation and reflection provide depth, orientation and comfort. The right balance between direct and diffuse light supports different activities through the day.
